Mysteries of Montreal

I don't do twitter, so I'm doing it here.  "my personal wish-list of tabletop roleplaying games to play in or run, if I had unlimited time, energy, and resources..." To this I'd add "and have the right group." Don't get me wrong, I love my players, but not all players fit all games and vice versa. I think some of the games I want to run on this list are because I don't think they'd fly with some or all of my current players. Since this is a wish list, I'm going to avoid the games of which I have had a current fix, and can most easily get moving, which is currently Call of Cthulhu , The One Ring , Vampire  and Mothership . Alright, let's see... I have never played, run or read any of the Pelgrane Gumshoe games, While the latter is easily rectified, I would really like to finally get to play one of them. I could make a top 10 list of which specific ones I'd like to play, but let's...

I don't post about every Kickstarter I back, but I think this one needs a little signal boost. " John Silence is a complete rpg plus a shared-universe story/poetry anthology about psychic people of color saving the Earth from invisible monsters." The name comes from a set of stories by Algernon Blackwod, so those are something I'll have to look up and get my hands on. Go check it out, there's plenty time left to back, and it hasn't yet made it's goal.

Taking a little break from the RPGaDay posts to pass on this great article on how inmates conspire to play RPGs in prison , where dice are contraband due to gambling rules, and where even D&D is named as contraband in some cases. Very interesting.

Way Back in 2012, I wrote a post that was intended to be one of a series. A short series, but a series none the less. That was on sourcebooks for various games that were describing Montreal in terms of the game setting. Montreal as a background for your game. I was recently notified of this little free to download RPG, that may be of interest to some of you: True Love Match . To quote the author : True Love Match is the game of romance and reality TV. You’ll need six people, a couple of rooms, and a few hours. It might mess you up a little.  I have yet to read or play the game, but knowing of it's source, I can but recommend it. True Love Match originated in my sheer fury at the cruelty of  The Bachelor as an entertainment format, and a sudden insight that I could mash together Emily Care Boss’s Breaking the Ice and Gregor Hutton’s Best Friends into a  Bachelor game.  As someone who is also left completely baffled by the popularity of the bachelor, even within my own household, this certainly seems to be something I could connect with. So, what are you waiting for? It sounds like the perfect game to spend an evening playing!

Like selling drugs at the schoolyard gate, DriveThru RPG is offering as it's weekly freebie, FirstFable . Not only that, but all the current character packs are available in this Bundle , which is also free for download. This is part of what is aparently 'Teach your Kid to Game Week'. As addictions go, this is one that I will not be too displeased for the sproglets to get hooked on. The characters currently available are Pirate, Knight and Fairy Princess. I'm not sure how I feel about the fairy Princess as a character (although I know it will appeal to LP), but I haven't read the rules,and of course there's nothing to stop the girls picking the Pirate or Knight, that's just how RPGs work.
